Mark Renton is a young Scottish, addicted to heroin who's part of a group of 6 persons (Sick Boy, who imitates Sean Connery, Spud, a dull young man,Begbie the psycho, his 14 years old girlfriend Diane and cleany athlet Tommy).These are part of the figures that tell their story in this movie, using the slangy agressive language of the Scottish of Leith.They are trying to escape every day's banalities using heroin.But doesn't last long until the baneful consequences of their addiction start to rise.So, they discover that there are no easy sollutions against life pain and solitude.Their problems concerning heroin, sexual dilemma, ironic twists of situations are doubled by permanent references to ethnical, religious, football conflicts, which are part of the mechanism of the community from which they come from.
